Auction item — see bidding details below

Used Coleman Air-O-Lantern Model QL, often called a QL327 or early 327-series Quick-Lite. These lanterns were produced from 1917 through 1933, but this one has details that point to it being among the early examples.

The air tube is stamped: PATENTED MAY 13, 1919

There are no other markings on the fount. This lantern does not have the center baffle plate found on later examples. Along with the air-tube stamping, that places it with the earlier production run.

The nickel-plated brass fount shows honest age and wear, including worn plating, surface oxidation, dirt, and grime. It appears solid, with minor dents visible in the photos.

The vent is a little rough, but it appears complete and held together. It also seems to have retained its nickel finish.

The mica globe is a reproduction. It has a small noticeable mark on one panel, visible in the photos, but no holes. The globe door moves up and down very well.

This lantern requires a separate external pump. Here in the shop, we pressurized the fount and found that it holds pressure. The valve opens easily, and pressure passes through the generator. The mantles shown in the photos indicate that it was run not too long ago, though it was not fired here in our shop.

Please see the photos closely for the complete condition and appearance. This is a neat early Coleman for someone who appreciates the first years of the Quick-Lite line.
