This is a German-made Norma E21 alcohol stove made by G. Barthel, probably sometime during the 1920s or early 1930s.
We recently used it at a Coleman gathering in Rainier, Oregon, and it worked very well. It runs quietly and puts out plenty of heat for making coffee or cooking. The paint appears to have been redone at some point, but using the stove did not discolor or distort it.
The control knob sits a little crooked and isn’t perfect, but it is solid and operates properly.
This is a gravity-fed alcohol stove. Open the valve briefly to let some alcohol run onto the preheater plate below the burner, then close it. Light the alcohol and let it warm the burner. When the priming flame is nearly gone, open the valve again and the stove should settle into a quiet, steady burn.
Coffee cup for size reference - not included. A really nice old stove that looks good and works well.
